Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 2026-05-21
Product Recall Tracker is committed to making product recall information accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We aim to conform with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA wherever feasible.
What we've built in
- Semantic HTML — proper heading hierarchy, landmarks, and form labels on every page.
- Keyboard navigation — every interactive element (nav, search, dropdowns, accordion, modal) works without a mouse. The site search supports ↑ ↓ ↵ esc, plus ⌘K / Ctrl+K / "/" to open.
- Color contrast — body text and primary UI maintain at least a 4.5:1 contrast ratio against backgrounds.
- ARIA labels — buttons, search input, modal, breadcrumb, and live alerts use ARIA attributes for assistive tech.
- Focus states — visible focus indicators on links, buttons, and inputs.
- Responsive design — all pages reflow cleanly on mobile, tablet, and desktop.
- Skip-friendly structure — page headers and section landmarks let screen readers skip navigation.
Known limitations
Some recall descriptions sourced from the FDA, USDA, and CPSC contain table-based layouts or legacy markup from the original agency notice. We sanitize these but cannot always rewrite them. If you encounter a specific page that's hard to use, please report it (see below) and we'll improve it.
Assistive technology compatibility
We test the site with current versions of:
- NVDA + Firefox (Windows)
- VoiceOver + Safari (macOS, iOS)
- TalkBack + Chrome (Android)
- Major browsers at 200% zoom and high-contrast modes
Reporting an accessibility issue
If something on Product Recall Tracker isn't accessible to you, please tell us. We treat accessibility bugs the same as functional bugs — high priority.
Email: accessibility@productrecalltracker.com
Include the page URL, what you tried to do, what happened, and the assistive tech you were using if applicable. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
Other formats
If you need recall information in an alternative format (large print, plain text, audio description, etc.), email us and we will do our best to accommodate.
